Tom Cruise and team are back with the 5th installment of the Mission Impossible franchise and the second in the latest Good Robot produced movies. In Mission Impossible Rogue Nation we’re introduced to a new comer, Rebecca Ferguson, who as far as I’m concerned steels the show. Keep an eye on her, terrific acting and reminds of some wonderfully classic actors such as Vivian Leigh but is a spitting image of Ingrid Bergman!
Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation pulled in $56M this weekend taking in the #1 spot at the box office. Now that’s a solid opening and well deserved given it’s 90+ rating on Rotten Tomatoes and well our reaction as you can see in this mini-review. The latest installation of Mission Impossible tackles complex nation relationships and current events while at the same time bringing a dose of humor as well as action.
Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner and Ving Rhames round out this year’s MI with the inclusion of Rebecca Ferguson. We can say, unequivocally, that Ferguson blew us away with her take on a British spy turned rogue agent. Wow! The Swedish actress, who you may recognize from last year’s “Hercules” and Starz’s “The White Queen,” plays British Intelligence spy Ilsa Faust, the hardest female bad-ass since Charlize Theron in “Fury Road.” And Sean Harris is immaculate as a villain Solomon Lane.
This go around the musical score was handled by Joe Kraemer but of course everyone knows that the Mission Impossible theme was composed by jazz pianist Lalo Schifrin. This version was made entirely with acoustic instruments in a symphonic setting:

The Mission Impossible Rogue Nation ringtone is free but it’s in mp3 format. It works on Google Android and Windows smartphones as well as iPhone.
